The Feds have mandated emissions testing on a yearly basis here and, quite frankly, I have become weary of making the nessesary adjustments to pass. I have, in the past, made the intake and exhaust less restrictive but fuel economy suffered and twice I failed emissions testing, which is a royal pain.
By the way, the Feds have also introduced the local citizenry to "no burn days". These are days when no one is allowed to burn wood in their fireplace. Yikes, talk about intrusive!
On another topic, I see that you are a machinist by trade. I am a weldor and sheet metal fabricator. Have you ever tinkered with converting the swingarm to a single shock "softail" arrangement ala the Suzuki DR series or Honda XR series bikes. I am going to a motorcycle boneyard north of here tomorrow to take measurements on a few varieties. I also am interested in converting a Harley swingarm for use on my Savage simply because it is one way of enlarging the rear sproket to 70 teeth from the present 68 to lower the final drive ratio.
Any thoughts? Thanks for your advice.
